COMPOUND INTEREST IS THE EIGHTH WONDER OF THE WORLD." -Albert Einstein



Today we would be discussing about this famous quote by one of the most famous scientist, Albert Einstein.
Accepting his thoughts, Darren Hardy, the publisher of the success magazine published New York time's best selling book, THE COMPOUND EFFECT.

I will be sharing some of the key ideas from this book.
Ques- What is the root favtor of success of an individual?

Think over it..

Is it childhood?  Upbringing?? Environment?? Or something else??
According to the author, the root factor are those small choices taken by everyone daily.
In this whole universe, there is only one thing, only one thing that we can control.
The Choicess we make.
And these choices are responsible for outcomes in our life.
You can choose to go to gym after work, or you can choose to watch TV. You can forget the fight with your friend and go hug them, or you can grow up your EGO and leave..
These choices determine the OUTCOME of your life.

Likewise, now if I give you a choice to
1. choose between 1 rupee coin and promise to double it everyday for 1 month, and between
2. 10 crore rupees (₹10,00,00,000/-) right now in cash.
So what would you choose from the two??
?
?

Number 2 right..??

So let me keep the number 1 option with me.
Now, let's see what number 1 option was gonna present us with..??
After 5 days, I have ₹16/- and you still have ₹10,00,00,000/-. You are spending your life with this 10 crores and partying.
After 10 days, I have ₹512/-; likewise
20 days, I have ₹5,242/- and
finally after 31 days, you still have ₹10,00,00,000/- while I will have ₹107,37,41,824/- (107 crore rupees) which is almost 10 times more than yours.
Perhaps now you can clearly understand, why Einstein said COMPOUND INTEREST to be the eighth wonder of this world.

Sucess follows similar pattern.

"After 31 months, Or, 31 years, the person who uses the positive nature of the compound effect, appears to be an overnight success."

Now, lets take an example of 3 friends- TOM, DICK & HARRY. All of the 3 have grown in the same environment, living at a common place, and the income of the 3 friends is more or less the same. And, all 3 friends are married and presently suffering from some fight with their wives.
And, from today onwards, TOM continued to do the same chore he used to do as always, because he thinks that he is happy this way. And, yes, sometimes complain about the selfish world.
On the other side, from today, HARRY made a checklist and tried to get some small insignificant changes in life. Like,
1. Reading 10 pages of a good book which he started to read before going to sleep each night.
2. Watch 30 minutes of selfhelp or motivational video.
3. Reducing 125 calorie from daily diet.
4. Drinking 2 Litres water daily.
5. Daily extra 2000 steps.
6. 2 extra calls to customers daily.
7. Make weekly Date Night with his wife.
Very small insignificant changes.

And on the third side, DICK started to make some small insignificant NEGATIVE changes.
Like
1. Daily extra JUNK FOOD for tiffin.
2. Miss GYM 3-4 days a week and just stay at home watching TV.
3. Drinking 1 coke everyday.
4. Stop Evening walk.
5. Less call to customers.
6. No more outings with his wife and just sometimes hug her.




AFTER 5 MONTHS, THERE WERE NO SIGNIFICANT CHANGES SEEN IN ANY THESE 3 FRIENDS. 
Even after 10 months, same no significant changes were visible. 
And, now HARRY started to get frustrated as there were no positive changes, but anyhow managed to continue this positive changes. 
Now, lets see the graph below, where DICK still enjoyed his life even after doing less work. So, seems with TOM. Tom seemed happy too. 
But after 25 months, suddenly SOME HUGE DIFFERENCES were seen.
And after 27 months, they became more clearer.
But at the end of 31 months, the DIFFERENCES were poles apart. And as of now,

1. TOM now started to complain a bit more about this world. He mostly felt bored and purposeless most of the times.

2. DICK,
i) after eating junk food daily increased his weight by 15 kg due to which his friends started to call him FAT DICK.
ii) And similarly, he filled his body with lots of diseases due to obesity.
iii) Daily missing 2 or 3 calls, he missed around 1800 calls during this period, due to which his customers were unsatisfied and bussiness went to LOSS, resulting in Business/Financial issues.
iv) Due to inattention, the relationship with his wife was completely ruined and conditioned worsened till DIVORCE.
SMALL NEGATIVE CHANGES COMPOUNDED FOR 31 MONTHS, BROUGHT HORRIBLE BIG RESULTS FOR DICK.

3. And now, lets come to condition of HARRY.
In 31 months time span, he
i) Read 47 books
ii) Watched 465 hours of self help videos, due to which his KNOWLEDGE AND WISDOM INCREASED DRASTICALLY.
iii) By removing 125 calorie from diet and walking 2000 steps daily, he lost 15 kg if weight due to which he still is slim and handsome like always.
iv) Drinking 2 litres water daily, he drank a total of 3720 gallon water, due to which he resisted many diseases from developing in him
v) By doing 2 extra calls daily, he did a total of 1800 extra calls. And his customers were very happy with him and his business went for PROFIT.
vi) By taking wife for a weekly date, he spent 124 date nights with his wife. Due to which his wifr was a lot happy and their relationship grew stronger.
SMALL INSIGNIFICANT POSITIVE CHANGES COMPOUNDED FOR 31 MONTHS, BROUGHT UNBELIEVABLE OUTSTANDING RESULTS FOR TOM.



But if getting success is this much easy and we know this process. So why we fail go follow this principle..?? Why do we fail??
According to author there are 4 such traps due to which we fail and fail to remain consistent.

1. STARTING RESULTS ARE INVISIBLE.

Imagine if you eat a burger now  and put up 15 kg of weight the next day, would you even eat a burger??
Imagine if you smoke a cigarette today, and come up with cancer the next day, would you even smoke a cigarette..??
But the problem is that, no changes are visible in the starting. After some months or some time, some bad horrifying results show up overnight and until when its too late to stop it.
To avoid this, remember
"EVERY CHOICE YOU MAKE IGNITES A BUTTERFLY EFFECT.!!"
You got to make a choice very carefully, being aware of the situation.


2. DECEPTIVENESS

Imagine if an aeroplane heading towards Los Angeles, gets off route by 1 degrees, it will land up on some island 150 miles away from it.
So , imagine if you get 1 degree off routed for 10 or 15 years, where would you land up in your life??!
To save yourselves, there should be a guidelines for the same.
Like a daily checklist that helps you to stay on track, like footprints.
Even if you get off tracked by any chances or due to some reasons in your life, this checklist will help you stay on track.






3. IMMEDIATE GRATIFICATION



You always have 2 options, whether to eat hot chocolate cake after dinner, or just drink a glass of water.
If you choose water, and your friend choose hot chocolate cake. And he is eating the cake joyfully in front of your eyes and here you are drinking this tasteless water.
THIS IS A TRAP..!!
Seeing this situation in short term,
Good choice = Nothing
Bad choice = Pleasure, which is a great paradox.
Likewise the author says,
"SHORT TERM PLEASURES create LONG TERM PAINS.
AND SHORT TERM PAIN create LONG TERM PLEASURES."
You will have to definitely suffer at least once in life. You just cannot escape it.
These suffering are of 2 types-
i) The pain of discipline
ii) The pain of regret
But the pain of discipline is just few grams, whereas the pain of regret is many TONS..!!!
AND NOW THE CHOICE IS YOURS..


4. WHAT IS EASY TO DO IS ALSO NOT EASY TO DO.

Maintaining this checklist, drinking 2 litres water daily, walking 2000 extra steps, doing all these works is very easy.
And yes, it is easy to do but doing it is difficulty as well.
Author says that there is only one thing that is common between successful and unsuccesful people.
They both hate making good choices.
Nobody would prefer to drink water over hot chocolate cake.
But successful people, still with their WILL POWER or the WHY POWER, are successful to do that work.
Like Muhammad Ali also said,
" I hated every minute if training but I loved being a world champion."
So, to get away from this trap you need to find out that WHY..??
THE POWERFUL THIS WHY, THE MORE POWERFUL YOU WILL BE.



SO, today itself, make your own checklist like HARRY that will help you to guide throughout life to stay on route.
One thing is definite,

YOU CANNOT ESCAPE THIS COMPOUND EFFECT. EITHER YOU EARN IT OR YOU PAY FOR IT..!!
