A busy life a light mind

It’s not enough to be busy; so are the ants. The question is: what are we busy about?” ~Henry David Thoreau.

If there is an area in your life where you have not been following through and you are like me, then you have probably made the same mistake. You have confused the important stuff with the urgent stuff.
You are being busy.
Countless things demand your attention, now.
Your phone just buzzed because you were tagged in a photo on Facebook.
You have a deadline at work tomorrow oh and you feel so sleepy
You must prepare lunches for your kids or if you like eating out you are craving for junk
You must pay that bill because it’s due today, you forgot yesterday because you were busy texting or maybe watching a new Netflix show?

85% of Delhiites  admit they don’t know how to prioritize as well as they would like.
How do you feel about the matter?
Do you ever feel overwhelmed by the amount of work you have?
Have you ever missed an important deadline?
Or forgotten to do something important?

That’s okay, I have a solution for you.

You see, these are symptoms of unpolished time management skills. All you need to do is refine your prioritization proficiency and start to efficiently evaluate your tasks with a proper to-do list.(okay I know you have tried number of apps and beautiful planners but nothing worked out)

Try following these 5 steps for a clutter free life
1) First, you should create a master list on which you write down everything you can think of that you want to do some time in the future. This is the place where you capture every idea that comes to or every new task or responsibility that comes up. You can then prioritize tasks late

2)Remember that the Pareto Principle, also known as the 80-20 rule says that 20% of your effort tends to produce 80% of your results, so prioritizing efficiently is a must.
As you work through your lists, you will feel more and more effective and powerful. You will feel more in control of your life.

3)Go back to step one. What is it that you want? Health? Love?
Put in your schedule activities that match your priorities.
You don’t have to go over-the-top with this. For example, if you feel you still don’t have enough time to go to the gym for an hour, then don’t put that in your schedule.
Put in what you think is absolutely feasible, no matter how small or imperfect it seems.
The fact that you think you should be working out for five hours a week does not mean that you have to start doing this on Monday.
A more feasible, sustainable way is to start by doing something that is in the vicinity of where you are but in the direction of where you want to go.

4)Our brain is constantly looking for stimulation. And conveniently, our modern society provides it. It will happily bombard our brain with stimuli through app notifications, endless news, emails, and texts.
All these stimuli and our relentless quest for instant gratification inevitably bring us to procrastination.
To get our head out of the water, we have to get rid of the clutter. We need to free time for our must-haves and nice-to-haves. Ask yourself the following questions:
What are the activities that you do purely out of habit even though you don’t enjoy them much?
What are the things you end up doing because you feel you “should,” even though they are not important to you?

0. Now that your schedule is more open, it’s time to experience the freedom of it. Try your new life for one week. See how it works out.Maybe you will notice that you should not have delegated some stuff, but some other stuff could actually be deleted from your life. Try this for a week to see in practice what works for you, and then make appropriate changes It might take you a couple of more weeks to clear the clutter from your life, testing what activities should go, stay, be delegated, or better organized
